John,

Did you purchase the turntable? Great look to the emotion, I like the color options also. Thanks for the link.

Alan

Hi Alan

Unfortunately not, but I will one day. I'm in the process of building up my kit so when the time is right (and the bank balance) I'll be getting one. I really can't rate it highly enough. It's amazing that the simplest things are the best....probably why I love the JLH amps so much.

Kind regards, John.

Well because I have not listened to some of my records in a while I have not much to say, but I will say this, LP's for the most part are better made and are better recorded than cd's, and there is no compression of the music on an LP. Most cd's do not have the frequency range that an LP has, even though the range is beyond human hearing. This fact was told to me by my uncle and not sure if it is really true but it does make some sense.

The turn table I use is made by Taya and was given to me by a teacher at school. Since then I have added a grounded IEC socket and some cheap gold plated radio shack jacks. The cartridge is made by Grado GTE+1 version.

That Marantz TT15S1 would be the best upgrade from the one I have, I too would love to own one for it's looks.

I have several vintage models I enjoy. The 1st is a classic Dual 1219 w/Shurve V15 type II cartridge. What a simplistic TT this is and still sounds great.
Just inherited a few Techncis from a friend in Houston who is moving back to the UK and decided he would not ship them there. The 1st is a Technics SL-120 w/o tonearm but have some ideas there so it is warming a corner in my listening room at the moment. The second is a SP-10 Mk1 on optional wood plinth w/dust cover and a SME 3009 III improved tonearm w/damping option. The main star is the Techncis SP-15 w/SME Series III w/damping option and a Grado Ref Platinum that I am totally enjoying at the moment.
If anyone is familiar with Decca London Cartiridge, drop me a line since this also came with the package and am unaware of testing or listening to this cartridge?
PS My 1st album used to test these kits was Bros in Arms that I picked up at Tower Records some years ago for $5.99.
Regards,

Hello,

I use a technics sl-1200mk2 and have had fantastic results. Its so heavy that it has very few problems with vibration feedback.

I'm currently using a Thorens TD-165. My parent's actually bought it back in the 70's i think, and after sitting in our basement for over a decade (I remember listening to my mom's Stevie Wonder as a kid), I have decided to get vinyl back into my life. As far as I'm concerned, it's a very nice table. The cables on the back were a little crappy, so i replaced those with some coax and some radioshack Gold Series parts.
Some of my fav LPs i have are:
OK Computer - Radiohead (180 gram, audiophile quality or whatever)
it's all crazy! it's all false! it's all a dream! it's alright! - mewithoutYou
Oh, Inverted World - The Shins
Futuresex/Lovesounds - Justin Timberlake
Ghost in the Machine and Synchronicity - The Police

That is a very decent table my buddy has had one forever. What are the loose electronic circuits in the back?
Cheers

the circuit on the left is the preamp i've been making (based off of CrazzyAbtTube's 12AU7 project) - i just have to put it in a box right now. The one on the right is the guts of an old PSU - not really doing anything right now
