I've been using the Behringer SRC2496 for a little over two weeks now. It has given my tired NAD C521i new life. I also use it as a DAC with a Squeeze Box where it also provides a large improvement over the internal DAC. I use up-sampling and with a 44.1kHz source it seems to me that up-sampling to 88.2kHz works better than 96kHz.

Photo below shows the DAC with a pair of Odd Block KT88 Series 1 Tube Amp Kits and a DIY Lightspeed Passive Attenuator.

So Gio,
What the verdict? With the KT88's. Digital or Vinyl?

Hi Uriah, the verdict is up-sampling is good! The SRC2496 is a bargain at it's price. Heck, it makes a decent DAC / headphone amp connected to a computer. As a DAC it preforms very well. For me it gave my fist generation Squeezebox and NAD C521i - both which are getting up in age new legs. The biggest thing is that it seems to bring the gap between digital and vinyl closer.

Personally I find surface noise to really distracting me. Plus LPs require a lot of care. Not sure what I will do in the long run but if the gap between the two keep on closing, I'll eventually give up some sound quality for the convenience.

Cheers
