The DM-4 seems interesting. Do you need a 4th order XO at 750Hz? It would be nice to see some measurements.

Actually M&D use a 6db network on them @900hz but 750hz may be a little low.
John K (www.zaphaudio.com) will be doing tests on the drivers in a few weeks and will be posting his findings on his website.

They are a very cool driver and image so much better than the original Ess Heil drivers they are also much better off Axis.

If you guys have a Mark & Daniel dealer near you (theres only 9 in the US right now) you should check them out.

A 1st order crossover at 900Hz sounds very unrealistic!!! Are you sure that about that? 1st order at 900Hz = -6dB @ 450Hz!!!

I look forward to the Zaph results since there is very limited information on the vendor site.

What sort of price range are we talking about here?

Interesting. I was a very big fan of the ESS Heil AMTs. Has the patent on these expired or are these just another cheap Chinese ripoff with a big markup? I would also like to know what the pricing and availability on these would be.

Is this your product?

I believe it is his product in a way. He was at a show when the manufacturer and he struck a deal that he could sell them. The patent has expired.

Well, if that is the case, he is not building any credibility by posting in this manner.

The prices will be
DM-1 $175 a pair
DM-4 $250 a pair

We are in no way affiliated with Dr Heil nor did he "give" us the right to sell them.
His patent ran out in 1994 and Mark & Daniel took the design fixed the flaws and made them for their own speakers.
I have talked them into allowing me to sell them directly to the diy public but unfortunately they only released the 2 smaller drivers for now.

The M&D "Dreams" drivers have a better overall frequency response and power handling without having to worry about blowing stuff up.
Heils drivers had a 50% failure rate thats why they went up in smoke but he had a great idea.

This is copied directly from their website about the crossover

"Mark & DanielĀ® speakers typically have a crossover at 6dB/octave or 12dB/octave for the bass unit and a low distortion 6dB/octave network for the Dreams wideband driver. Matching this to the Dreams driver, with its mechanical attenuation yields a high roll-off response over 24dB/octave down from 800Hz. The crossover network is built with large Gauge 15 (0.15mm wire diameter) coreless inductor, non-polar capacitors, and resistors for fine adjustments to the system. Premium XPP capacitors (with 0.07% dissipation factor) have also been employed for improved performance."

Here is a link to it as well http://www.mark-daniel.com/ManualShow_En.asp?ID=22
