I've decided to make a docking station for iPhones, iPods etc... which will connect via an audio jack and be powered by mains (UK). Trouble is, I don't know where to start. It seems like there are a lot of options available, I want something relatively cheap with respectable sound (not looking for audiophile quality). Currently it seems like 'full range' speakers are the way to go, how involved is setting this up (in terms of electronics)?

The simpler the solution the better, I may even dismantle an existing dock I have and use the wiring and speakers from that. Is this feasible?

Apologies if I'm posting in the wrong section or if a post similar already exists.

Thanks.
