I'm planning something fancy, most likely with Acoustic Elegance drivers, active 2 or 3 way, curves and a piano gloss finish.

Hi Paul, I'm also looking forward to your project. Feel free to start up a thread when you get going.

Also, great work with your website. ;)
Cheers

Final coat of paint. I have yet to mount the crossover inside the box.

They image extremely well and the bass goes deeper and is more punchy than my 8'' 2 ways.
Practically flat to 30Hz due to the large volume used - 15L per woofer.
In terms of soundstaging, lifelike sound and timbre, they fall short of the large speaker.
The most amazing aspect of these speakers is the extremely low cabinet colorations. I can detect no resonances at all. I tried and tried to make the boxes sing with demanding music tracks but they didn't smear any notes at all.

Top end of the tweeter is spectacular - dispersion is extremely good ( better than the Scanspeak D2904 7100) and cymbals leap out of nowhere. The region between 4-8Khz is not spectacular and can lead to fatigue. Violins sound thinner and can sound edgy at time. Saxophone has a strong brassy/metallic bite but lacks the deep harmonics. Lesson learnt - Never use a cheap tweeter with the Scanspeak midbasses.

I enjoy both speakers very much but I have a preference for the larger 8'' 2 ways as most of my listening is jazz or classical music and the larger speaker makes the listening session more emotional and moving.
