I realize I'm digging up an old thread but I was wondering if you still had your Tang Band W8-1772's and if you ended up finishing them? What did you finish them in? Scott |

Hi Scott, welcome to the forum. Are you also working with these drivers? Also, be sure to check out Jim's work with these drivers: Tang Band W8-1772 bookshelf speakers. Cheers |

I'm not working with them but am intrigued by them. I can buy them for a very good price and they look like SWEET drivers! I'd really like to hear a set ... I did see Jim's work as well, both here and on Parts Express ![]() |

What convinced me to buy them without a listen was comments by Bob Brines. Bob builds speakers as his Hand Built Audio business and offers the TB W8-1772 as kits, plans or ready built. Bob made extensive measurements, listening tests and posted the data here: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/full-ran ... sions.html I highly recommended them. |

I read that whole thread and that's what got me thinking about those drivers. Good to hear that Bob's advice, measurements and designs are well respected. I've thought about the TT-2000 (I think that's the Tang Band version of them) towers. I like towers ![]() |

The Tang Bands are a fading memory. I had too many speakers sitting around the house and offered four pairs for sale at my cost-to-build. The TB's were the first to go. I never did apply a finish to the enclosures. Also, I regret to say I was unsuccessful in my effort to addict young Uriah to baffle step correction filters. He returned all the inductors to me and continues to lead an exemplary BSC-free life. |
