Almost cut my hai ... got my TPA3118 working perfectly the other day..
When having assembled it - two TPA3118 modules in a perfect chassis - it sounded awful. Highly distorted sound and no control of volume.
Now I soldered a 2200uF capacitor across the Vcc and Gnd and that removed all (or at least most) of the distortion. The modules have propably too much gain and I have seen somewhere that there's a resistor (SMD) on the boards that can lifted up with a hot soldering iron.
I will add some more microfarads and add resistors ins series with the input cables, if I cannot locate the magical gain-setting resistors. I used a smaller amp hooked up to my TV to get some heavier sound, and now I am using the TPA3118.
The modules are mono-amps, rated some 50W. Therefore two are needed for stereo.
