Geek, I have no intention about changing my rule but noted that's possible to remove, in this case, the cap. In cramped builds, e.g. portable headphone amps, I use NP electros. But in this case some nice Solens found a home. I also built the Boozhound Labs MC stage with the Russian PIO on the output. I'm finding the best combo is the BHL MC stage with my new tube MM\RIAA preamp. Just sounded smoother and richer than with Mimic.

G'day all, just regarding this single op amp phono stage, my admiration for this simple phono stage just grows and grows, especially how wonderfully musical it sounds, despite its circuit simplicity.

I have recently completed another more complex op amp based phono stage project that I had great hopes for but has turned out to be a little disappointing. It sounds fine, but 'sterile' without any of the musicality that Bruce Heran's simple op amp design has in spades.

As a example the other day I was listening to my beloved Dave Brubeck Greatest Hits vinyl album with my new phono stage and whilst it sounded good I felt no emotional connection with the music at all. The next night I played the same album again with the same gear and cartridge (OEM stylus) Shure M97xE but with this amazing Bruce Heran simple op amp phono stage and I really 'connected' with the music in the most delightful way. Tonight listening to one of the Bach Brandenburg Concerto's on a Philips recording was similarly wonderful! This is a stunningly nice sounding and musical phono stage. I love it! Regards, Felix.

Look at the CMoy had phone amp cct. He shows a simple way to gain a differential supply from a single voltage source. This method uses two resistors and caps. I'll try to get a drawing up.

Hi, I hear the same thing from several sources....it should not sound as good as it does. It reminds me of the early days on the Oddwatt amps. I was getting one or two per day comments that it could not work or if it did it would sound terrible. I just suggested that folks build one before they comment. One version of the power amps (that could not possibly work) will be going on sale head to head with heavy hitters and will retail in the $7000 per pair range in about 2 months. I understand that the folks auditioning the prototypes thought they would be a bargain at that price. Maybe I should put some of the IC phono preamps in gold plated cases with costly connectors and sell them for $1000 each. :D

Good listening
Bruce
