Hello to all!

im new here!
Last year I bought H/K receiver in made my first DIY interconnect cables..my friend rented me two Dynavox tube-based amplifiers!
I was fascinated over amps and decited to build my first one!

I was thinking something like "Gainclone" with separate power supply part!about 50-60W per chanel!

Can you suggest me a project to start with?

i was looking something like "LM3886 Gainclone 2x68 Watt Full Amplifier"

at home i found toroid sec. 12V,300VA..probably cannot be used for anything, except maybe some mono amp!

sory for my bad english!

Hi hybrid,

Warm greetings! For a great first project you could check out Mark's LM3875 gainclone. Extremely simple to build. http://diyaudioprojects.com/Chip/Synerg ... Gainclone/

For a LM3886 kit, you can try one of the kits at : http://www.chipamp.com/lm3886.shtml

I'll second the LM3886 chipamp kits from chipamp.com They are well documented, easy to build and really do sound great given the relatively low cost.

Welcome to the forum.
Cheers

i think it will be probably the SYNERGY - LM3875 GAINCLONE AMP that im going to build..
its quite simple design, no PCB, but a lot of wiring

for me,the most expensive part is toroid..heatsink is going to be from some old PC cooler!

i was thinking something about adding fuse(this is "must hawe"), and maybe LED indicator for switch!

does anyone else build this amp?!
im curious about the sound..

tommorow is day parts-gathering day

at home i have some old satelite receiver and was wondering using it for amp housing!the back plate will have to be replaced with plexy for example!and sand the frame and give it polished- aluminium look!
it has power button and separate chanel -/+ buttons..can these two channel buttons replace potenciometer?!for volume -/+?
in future (four in a row)7segment LED display would be configured as volume meter or simply replaced with VU LED meter!

could my "vision" about volume button be realized?!
need opinion from you guys! :)

Depends on the circuitry. Can you give a better description or post a photo?
Cheers

The Synergy happens to me my baby. It was purchased two years ago with one of my valve preamps, and plays for about six to eight hours a day ebery day. Classical music, talk back radio and TV. So a very reliable amp. ASnd combined with the tube preamp, excellent sounding combo http://www.diyaudioprojects.com/Tubes/12AX7_Preamp/index4.htm.

You could waist time looking for an old tin can or the sump tray off a truck to build the amp in. But I think go and purchase something new and exciting to build your amp in. Try kitchen ware, it worked for me.
