Still in the process of gathering parts for the Gainclone amp, the LM3875's came yesterday. I will be wanting to connect a turntable, a tape deck, CD Player and XM receiver. I'm guessing I will need a Preamp to handle the different sensitivity of outputs to the Gainclone input, unless there is some elegant way around this? I was thinking of a David Hafler 101 or 110 from the after market. Any thoughts?

Alan

Hi Alan,
You will need an RIAA phono preamp for your turntable. For the rest a potentiometer in-front of the amp will be sufficient.
Cheers

Thanks for that, as long as I need a phono pre amp, I might as well get a preamp that can switch the rest of the sources also.
The David Hafler 101 was said to have a very nice Phono section in that preamp and it can be picked up for around $100USD if you shop around the used market. Is there any reason to use ONLY a phono pre and run the other sources directly into the Gainclone?

Thanks,
Alan

Nope, no reason. Both approaches will be just fine. Try them both and see which you prefer.
Cheers
