[MODERATOR EDIT]: Split from My first Amplifier Build....well, almost....) thread.

I'm surprised that it doesn't get that hot, I have got rather large heatsinks on it though. I'm contemplating building a Gainclone at some point soon too, I get the impression I'd get a log of bang for my buck. There are some great looking DIY builds out there, I particularly like the look of Mark Houston's Monoblocs. :)

Lots of mods and instructions for building
www.chipamp.com
LM3886 Kits
www.audiosector.com
LM3875 Kits
http://www.pedjarogic.com/index.html
This guy has some nice mods and good PSU

Then:>>>> Dun Dun Dunnnn....
Probably some of the most beautiful internals of any amps I have seen
http://www.shine7.com/audio/audio.htm
and especially
http://www.shine7.com/audio/12ax7_pre.htm
So on these sites you can either order good boards or get excellent information about building a chip amp. P2P is pretty easy with these. I am going to do a pcb sometime soon but I dont think there is any advantage over P2P I just think it might be fun and nicer looking.

That shine7 site has some lovely builds.

Do you have any idea where I could get some of that PCB board he uses in
http://www.shine7.com/audio/12ax7_pre.htm
?
I have seen it on 2 other people's builds but dont remember which sites they were and either way I have never seen the boards for sale.

Looking for tube gear on ebay, I came across the boards:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0266633784
I do not think they have any advantaged over direct wire connections.

Thanks man! I just emailed him to ask if he has any without placements for tubes. We will see.
They have no advantage except looks. They look great!

No problem. I don't suggest you use them with tubes however. Instead, go point to point and mount the tube socket to the chassis. In my opinion, if you are using tubes, show them off as they look cool! Plus it helps with cooling.

What do you guys think about this build?
http://dogbreath.de/Chipamps/CopperAmp/CopperAmp.html
Is this crazy? Check out the PSU as well. This guy has some respect in DIY for sure. He is down to 2 resistors in the signal path and THATS IT. Outside of signal there are resistors and caps but this is a capless PSU. Would love to get away with no caps in PSU but....
So, what do you think of the amp?

He does very lovely point to point work. I like ti use more capacitance. Also, I'm not too crazy about those binding posts.

What do you think about having no zoebel (sp?).?
With no capacitance is he going to have nearly zero bass?
Spose it would be easy to test is and see, but would this thing be dangerous to my speakers? You know burning speakers has been a problem with me lately :)
