No zobel is fine provided you don't present the amp with a load which will cause it to become unstable. Mark's LM3875 Gainclone Amplifier does not use a zobel.

What the zobel does is shunt the HF to ground. IMO a zobel circuit is very cheap insurance.

My Dad has a nice Marantz amp and some Mirage speakers. My guess is around 3 grand total cost.
My brother in law has a Carver Sunfire amp with some monstrous output and a pair of nearly 5' tall Paradigm speakers. The amp itself is around 4 grand. Pick a number for the speakers. Maybe a similar number.
My recent chip amp cost about $150. Audio Nirvana speakers I built for something around 300-350.
There is no comparison in sound. The chip amp is so much better. I am so glad to be in this hobby. Its a lot of fun. There is a great sense of satisfaction listening to your own hand built set up. Listening to how other 'high end' amps sound through the lower end high end speakers doesnt make my amp any sweeter, but that sense of satisfaction gets 100% validation.
Anywho, my brother in law was talking about trying some DIY by the time I left. No mention of my amp except "that sounds pretty good." But, his expression said it all.

Yes, a little elbow grease can really pay off!

Well, it just blew my mind while I was listening to their setups that this little LM3886 could sound so much more clear, separating the instruments, lifting that "veil", and not amplifying bass to a level that interrupts the music. Although, I would like more bass in my system it seemed that with the bass turned DOWN on their systems it was still to much.
It has no right to sound this good compared to the other amps. Or maybe the manufacturers have no right to sell something that could so easily sound much better.
